Awkwafina
Awkwafina has been described as an American actor and performer who made her name with smart raps that addressed the issues of sexuality and race with a the most comical of perspectives. Her career then grew to Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical career as a musician on the trumpet. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was a child of Chinese immigrants as well as Korean immigrants. Alongside classical music and jazz, the young Nora started studying hip-hop when she was in her teens. While at school, she majored in journalism and women's studies at college, even taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing for a stint. The focus on music until she finished her studies. In 2012 her track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet eventually landing on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album also contained was other hits that went viral, including Queef (body-positive) as well as NYC Bitche$1. This latter song was directly connected to Awkwafina's NYC, a 2015 travel guide. The singer decided to make acting careers following the completion of her previous two endeavors, author and musician. She's appeared in movies including Neighbors 2, Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed many notable roles that were a breakthrough, like Dude Ocean's 8, or Crazy Rich Asians. In June she released her first film In Fina We Trust.
